Monitoring

JEDI One's Monitoring feature enables you to monitor other machines connected to the same network as JEDI One.

JEDI One uses the operating system's native ICMP PING protocol to ping machines on the network, measure round trip times (RTT) and packet loss.

JEDIMonitoring

You can configure JEDI One to notify you when some machines are not reachable or if there is a change in latency or packet loss.

You can also add charts to the Data View dashboard to visualize latency and packet loss metrics.

Note: To use the monitoring feature, JEDI One must be run from an account with administrator or root permissions.

Monitoring Configuration

To configure monitoring, click the settings icon (gear icon) to bring up the Edit Configuration settings form.

Ping Frequency Type

This setting allows you to select between EVERY and DAILY to set a frequency at which the machines will be monitored.

Selecting EVERY allows you to set the monitoring Frequency in MINUTES, HOURS and DAYS with a minimum of 3 minutes.

Selecting DAILY allows you to set a specific time at which the machines will be pinged.

ALERTS

This settings section allows you configure email and SMS notifications for monitoring.

Email

This setting enables or disables email notifications for monitoring.

SMS

This setting enables or disables SMS notifications for monitoring.

Alert if latency exceeds

This setting allows you to configure JEDI One to send an email notification if the ping latency (in milliseconds) exceeds the configured latency for any of the monitored machines.

Alert if packet loss exceeds

This setting allows you to configure JEDI One to send an email notification if there is packet loss and it exceeds the configured percentage for any of the monitored machines.

Emails

This settings field allows you to enter a list of email addresses. Email addresses must be separated by commas.

JEDI One will send email notifications to these addresses for latency and packet loss related events.

Phone Numbers

This settings field allows you to enter a list of phone numbers. Phone numbers must be in the following format + and must be separated by commas.

JEDI One will send SMS notifications to these phone numbers for latency and packet loss related events.

Adding a new target

To add a machine to be monitored, click the ADD TARGET button.

Enter the IP address or the domain name of the machine that you wish to monitor.
